My Autumn/Winter 2012 lookbook is finally here! A huge, enormous, thank you to my above listed friends for taking my little collection of clothes and making such an incredible shoot around them! These are such a talented bunch of girls, I am so lucky to get to work with them. You can read all about the shoot and how it all came together here.

There is a lot that I am excited to share about this collection! Firstly, as I mentioned here, this season I collaborated with my friend (and housemate!) Sarah Adkins on some hand printed fabric designs. Sarah is a super talented illustrator and graphic designer (as well as all round creative genius really) and I am so in love with the autumn-themed prints she came up with. Knowing that each dress or skirt is individually hand printed, to me adds even more meaning to the idea of the clothing being handmade. Maybe it helps that it is a collaboration between two friends, but it feels so very personal!

The other thing I really love about the collection is the fabrics themselves. As well as some more lovely bamboos and hemp, I have added some velveteen, and even some yak wool to the mix! I have tried again to stick to using eco friendly, sustainable materials, and only the velveteen is made from conventional cotton. (When will someone start making organic velvet? Because I am so down for that.) Even the yak wool is blended with bamboo!

I'm afraid there is a downside to the extra effort that has gone into these new designs; the cost. Of course, Sarah needs to be paid for printing the fabric as well, and hand printing takes time! So this has made the dresses even more expensive. I want you to know that I am aware that these dresses are definitely on the pricey side, and I am really sorry about that! But then again, these dresses haven't exploited anyone in the making (I might work pretty long hours, but this ain't no sweatshop!) which I definitely think is something worth considering! When I first started my label, I wrote a little bit about my shock at the reality of pricing handmade clothing, which I thought I might share again here if you're interested at all (plus you can see the difference between my first lookbook pics taken with my self timer, versus Hannah's pro work today!) The original post is here.

Finally, you can check out the new collection in detail, and read about all the individual garments in the

  9. Shoot girl, you are so insanely talented, its so inspiring. Everything is just so dreamy. And good for you for pricing your work at what its worth. That step is really hard to take and I admire you so much for it. I think I am still a little weary of that and not brave enough (but will have to change that sooner than later!)

Ahh! I could stare at these pictures for days!

    1. Wow, thank you so much Vanessa! That means so very much to me coming from you, I love your work so much! I agree, it is incredibly tough pricing your work. It is hard to feel like anyone is going to buy it to be honest! I think it's important for we hand-made makers though to explain why handmade things cost so much. I think people really do appreciate the extra work and effort and attention to detail that goes into these things, and hopefully they feel like it's worth paying a bit extra for something personal that will last them a long time :) (fingers crossed!) Congrats on your new collection by the way, I absolutely love your new designs!!
