Hello again! It's been a few weeks since I visited this blog. After I got sick I had my work cut out for me catching up with sewing. Plus, you know, life happened, and all that real-world stuff that can be ever so distracting!
I have really gotten into gardening lately and have been working a fair bit in our yard. It is proving to be a nice new creative outlet for me, something a bit different! I have also started volunteering at CERES one day a week, which has been heaps of fun, and I am learning lots about propagation and the like.
I am also working on my new collection for Spring at the moment, in between sewing orders, so that has been keeping me rather busy too.
During my absence though I had a number of exciting things happening in the internet world! I wanted to thank a few different people for mentioning and sharing about Frances Baker in various spots around the web lately:
Lovely Liz from Olive my Love styled her new 'falling leaves' dress for a trip to West St studios in Brooklin, here. I also did an interview with Liz here, which I really enjoyed. She asked a lot of great questions, I thought!
I was recently approached by a new magazine called eco brides, to see if I would like to be involved in a shoot for their inaugural addition. The online magazine is aimed at brides who want to have a completely eco friendly wedding, which I think is a fantastic goal, and I was really happy to be asked to have my Virgins dress included. I was even more excited when the magazine was released though, to see the Virgins dress right there on the front cover!
The first issue is really beautifully put together, and I think they are doing a great thing in helping get the word out about eco friendly products. Definitely worth checking out, even if you're not planning a wedding anytime soon ;) You can read the magazine here.
Another exciting new thing for me is that Frances Baker is now stocked in a lovely little boutique in Warrnambool, called 'always'. Owner Erin is really passionate about supporting independent and handmade creators/designers, and stocks such lovely goodies as good night, day, Ginny and Jude, stone and honey, and ok ok to name a few! I am so very excited to to have my dresses and such included in Erin's amazing little store!
I was pretty thrilled to see that the ever wonderful Rhiannon had chosen to include her own Lucy dress in her latest shoot with Jamie Hopper. Any long time readers of this blog would know that Rhiannon is a long time internet hero of mine, and I love the styling and photography work these two do together. Beautiful!
Finally, Hannah recently took a pretty awesome looking adventure in her Virgins dress!
Thanks also to Be In Style, who included me in their best of the web round up.
If there was any one else who I may have missed, thank you too! I really appreciate all the incredible support I have been receiving online. I am very much aware that I couldn't do what I am doing without the generosity of other internetters who have been willing to share my collections and work on their sites. Thank you <3

Glad you're feeling better, Josie! And congrats on the bridal shoots and the new boutiques! It's so exciting seeing your beautiful clothes pop up everywhere . . .
ReplyDeleteAlso thanks so much for posting photos from our shoot! I think your dress was Jamie's favorite of all the stuff I brought to shoot our model in. It just photographs like a dream.
Exciting to hear that you're gardening too! I keep meaning to start a proper one, but keep getting scared of being out in the heat more than I have to. : )
Awww Rhiannon I'm so glad, and so flattered that you guys like the dress, it really makes me so incredibly happy! Thank you so much for using the dress in the shoot, it's amazing :)
DeleteI really never expected to enjoy gardening so much. I think having a vege patch and being able to use our own veges and herbs in our food makes it feel kind of exciting, and I find it really cool to plant a seed and see it turn into a beetroot, etc. It's winter here at the moment, which is pretty mild, so apart from getting chilly fingers it's really quite pleasant to be out in the garden on the weekends. I'm not sure how I'll cope come summertime though!!
